About

Hello! I’m Matt Syverson, the author of the rock-n-roll themed novels, “Black Dog”, “Band On The Run”, and its sequel “Running On Empty”. I live in Victoria, TX. I lived in Seattle during the grunge days, and yes, I was in a band. I was the lead singer and guitarist for “Saturn Lander”. You can hear my music on YouTube.

I don’t play music anymore, having traded hours on the guitar for hours on my computer. I still love listening to music, though. It helps me write. I have a file on my computer called “Inspiration”. It’s about 4 gigs of songs that inspire me while I’m writing. I play it on ‘shuffle’ and it always gets me in the mood to be creative.

I have two music-related tattoos. One says, “R.I.P. Ziggy, ’71 – ’73, Rock-n-Roll Suicide” and the other says, “R.I.P. Keith” with the Stones’ Lips logo and the words, “Let It Bleed”. And yes, I know Keith Richards is not dead! To say I’m a dedicated rocker is an understatement.

I love terriers and have a Scottie named Lucy. She wasn’t the model for the cover of “Black Dog”, but she looks exactly like it. Well, I’m gonna get back to my writing. In parting, I’ll say that if you like rock-n-roll, especially classic rock, you should check out my books.

  1. Hi Matt, I will definitely check out your books! I wrote a Stones-themed short story that is published in an online journal called “The Write Place at the Write Time” – the title is “Grievous Angie”. I’m going to try to paste the link below. It’s great to meet another writer with similar interests! Thanks for following me and I look forward to reading your posts. By the way, I love RIP Ziggy. I still miss Ziggy. Bowie should resurrect him for us, I think. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Hi Matt, glad you caught my little play on words there, haha! It was a nod to both Parson’s “Grievous Angel” and the Stones’ “Angie”. A double-edged tribute, so to speak. ๐Ÿ˜‰
